They symbolise eternity and infinity, a cosmic symbol of the eternal nature of the universe.
Maa is who rests on snakes. Who is beyond all dualities of life and death, ignorance and wisdom, good and evil and is beyond time.
She is beyond the cycles of creation and destruction.
She is the Shakti which pervades the whole Universe; in whom all universes are born and die, living their destinies.
She is in whom we all return, get reborn and transform ourselves.
Hence, the name Nagasayini.
